An Experienced Naval Architect and Oil & Gas Professional, Mr. J. Dasgupta is currently the President of Institution of Naval Architects (INA). He is engaged with M/s Arush Gas Technology Services (AGTS), Ahmedabad as a founder since 2016,leading a team of engineers in Technology development and Engineering solutionsfor LNG Terminals and floating LNG & LPG solutions including FSRUs, LNG Carriers, LNG Transportation, LNG Powered Engines, and related technologies.
On behalf of INA, he has been a member of the Indian delegation to IMO MEPC 79 & MEPC 80; and attended MSC 107 online in hybrid format.
His previous engagement was with Larsen & Toubro where he was the Head, Upstream Marine Group, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited, Mumbai; CEO of L&T-VALDEL Engineering Bangalore and Head of Floating System Business, all dealing in various Upstream Hydrocarbon projects.
Mr. Dasgupta spent a considerable part of his career with IRS where he grew up to be a Chief Surveyor looking after Research & Development and was involved with all functions of the Classification Society from Rule Development to Surveys and Certification. He was a then Member of Indian Delegations at the IMO for between 2003 to 2007, a Member of IACS Working Party & Asian Classification Society on Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) between 1996 to 2002.He was India Correspondent & Member Design Philosophy Committee for International Ship & Offshore Structural Congress (ISSC) in 2006 & 2009 contribution to Goal based Standard.
In the early part of his professional life, he worked with Mazagon Docks in the Design office for development of design & drawings of Jacket Launch barge, Offshore Patrol Vessels, Passenger Ships & Tugs & Trawlers.
He isa Life Member of Indian Cryogenics Council, Inter University Accelerator Centre; and a member of project approval committee of Department of Earth Science, Deep Water Mission.
